HONORS DIVISION (Ages 12 - 18)
The Honors Division is open to students ages 12-18 with more advanced skills. These students are chosen based on auditions and teacher recommendation, with preference given to older students. Instruments included in the Honors Division are:
Session I: strings and piano
Session II: strings and piano.
OVERVIEW
- Honors Chamber Orchestra Rehearsals (Session I) or Honors Beethoven Orchestra Rehearsals (Session II)
- Chamber Music Ensembles (Pre-formed groups are welcome to apply ) or Music Seminar classes
- Daily sectional rehearsals and potential opportunity to perform in a masterclass led by professional chamber musicians.
- Inspiring mini concerts by professional artists
- Honors Chamber Ensemble concert Thursday afternoon
- Camp concludes with the Orchestra concert on Friday morning.
AUDITIONS
All Honors Division applicants are required to submit a short audition video.
In our google audition form we will ask for a short videoupload from each applicant demonstrating their current ability.
Honors Chamber Orchestra Session 1 - Auditions Required
Session 1: June 15-20, 2025
Honors Chamber Orchestra for Strings and Piano
Students must be very advanced to audition for this select group. Advanced technical ability, sight-reading ability and musicianship emphasis will be the focal points for these musicians. Pre-formed chamber music ensembles are welcome to apply.
** Video auditions are required. Video application deadline is February 21.
The general level for string players includes:
Key signatures: all
Positions: 1st-6th
Cellists must know tenor clef.
Reading: Advanced high school orchestral repertoire or Suzuki Book Six.
Honors String Orchestra - Auditions Required
Session 2 : June 22-27, 2025
Honors Beethoven Orchestra for Strings and Piano
Students must be very advanced to audition for this select group. Advanced technical ability, sight-reading ability and musicianship emphasis will be the focal points for these musicians.
Pre-formed chamber groups are welcome to apply.

Honors string players will be sent their orchestra and chamber music ahead of time. Honors students and must come to camp with their music learned. Preparation will be key to a successful camp experience. Please refer to “Schedule” page for specific camp hours.
- Track 1: Strings are placed in a Chamber Ensemble coached by a professional musician
- Track 2: Strings participate in a Music Seminar class led by professional coaches
- All Honors strings play in the Honors Chamber Orchestra (Session I) or Honors Beethoven Orchestra (Session II)

Advanced woodwind and brass players may audition for a half-day option during Session I. Percussionists may apply for half-day options only. Music will be sent ahead of time and must be well learned before camp starts. Preparation will be key to a successful camp experience. Please refer to the "Schedule" page for specific camp hours
- Half-day option Session 1: Winds and brass play in the Honors Chamber Orchestra and participate in sectional rehearsals, but will not participate in chamber ensembles

Advanced pianists may audition for half-day camp experience. This is a fun, unique and enriching experience open to a limited number of pianists! Music will be sent ahead of time and must be well learned before camp starts. Preparation will be key to a successful camp experience. Please refer to the schedule page for specific camp hours.
- Chamber Music half-day option: Pianists are placed in Chamber Ensembles, coached by professional musicians, culminating with the Honors Concerts on Thursday afternoon

- Orchestral half-day option: Pianists rehearse and perform with the Honors Orchestra, as well as receiving 2 private lessons or classes, concluding with the Friday morning Final Concert
