Auditions

No audition is necessary.  

• Students will be placed in the orchestra appropriate for their age level

• Those wishing to be placed in a different orchestra must have a teacher recommendation and submit an orchestra level change video audition.

• Contact Margaret@Stringfieldmusiccamp.com for information about Orchestra Level Change Auditions if interested in moving up or back to an orchestra that is not specified for your age. Teacher recommendation and a Zoom audition is required. Do not register for the higher orchestra level unless you have been approved for the change. 

Honors auditions for strings, woodwind/brass and piano students are required for acceptance into the program. The deadline for video submission is March 4th. Contact Honors@stringfieldmusiccamp.com for details. Sight reading is not necessary for video audition submissions but may possibly be requested at a later date. String audition requirements include: 

-a 3-octave scale of your choice slurring 4 notes per bow

-a 2-minute solo or excerpt of a solo piece demonstrating your highest level of performance or

-sight-reading excerpts from the chamber and/or orchestral literature

Piano audition requirements include:

-2 major and 2 minor scales of your choice (in octaves), played as triplets or 16th notes

-A 2-minute solo piece or excerpt of a solo piece demonstrating your highest level of performance or

-Sight-reading a chamber music excerpt

LSMC is funded primarily by student tuition. 

Limited need-based scholarship assistance is available. 

• Your financial aid application must include a recommendation from the student’s music teacher stating why they believe that you need assistance. 

• Download the financial aid application here  then fill it out and send it to  Margaret Garriss at   Margaret@stringfieldmusiccamp.com 

• Please wait to register for the camp until after you have been notified by email regarding the results of your financial aid application. 

For the Zoom video level change audition, students will need to play 

• a scale of their choice, 
• a 2-minute solo piece, 
• sight-read a short excerpt
